Torino's Memorial Hilltop

Also known as the Parco della Rimembranza, this hill park above the San Vito-Revigliasco area was created in 1925, when 5,000 trees representing 400 different species were planted as a living WWI memorial. Roughly 12 kilometres of paths wind through the park, each named for a location where one of the 4,810 Torino soldiers who died in the war fell.

At the top, a panoramic terrace is dominated by the Faro della Vittoria — a winged bronze figure sculpted by Edoardo Rubino in 1928, its torch originally fitted with a working beacon, and its base inscribed with an epigraph by Gabriele d'Annunzio. The climb rewards with one of the widest views over the city and the Alpine arc beyond.
