Fifty Years of Arte Povera

Founded in 1970 as Galleria Multipli, Giorgio Persano is one of Torino's most important contemporary art galleries — a city that, through the Arte Povera movement, became one of postwar Italy's defining art capitals. Over five decades the gallery has worked with artists including Michelangelo Pistoletto, Mario Merz, Giuseppe Penone, Giulio Paolini, Gilberto Zorio and Jannis Kounellis, alongside international names such as Sol LeWitt and Joseph Kosuth.

In September 2020, to mark its 50th anniversary, the gallery moved into Palazzo Scaglia di Verrua on Via Stampatori, a historic palazzo in the heart of the centro storico just north of Piazza Castello. It continues to mount exhibitions of established and emerging artists in rooms that place contemporary work against centuries-old architecture.
