Where Torino Discovered Specialty Coffee

Opened in San Salvario in 2014, Orso Laboratorio del Caffè is generally credited as the first specialty-coffee address in Torino — a small lab-like space built around single-origin beans and alternative brewing rather than the standard Italian espresso-bar counter. It still runs on that same idea: coffee treated like something worth slowing down for.

Expect AeroPress, Chemex and syphon alongside espresso, with staff happy to talk through origin, roast and flavour if you ask. It's a short detour off Via Nizza into the quieter streets of San Salvario, and a good antidote if you want a coffee that isn't just knocked back at the bar.
